Andrea Maffezzoni

Having graduated with a Degree in Business Administration from the Bocconi University in Milan, Mr. Maffezzoni remained as researcher and lecturer at the same University for one year. 

In 1998, he joined UniCredit’s Group M&A team, where, until 2008, he worked on the definition and implementation of the Group's main acquisition and reorganization projects, including expansion in the CEE and the business combination with HVB. 

From 2008 to 2011 he headed the Strategy and Planning Unit of UniCredit's Private Banking Division, with a particular focus on defining the new European business model and developing the Division's internal and external growth strategies. 

In 2011, he joined the Planning Department as Head of Planning and Control of Family & SME.

In 2012, he became Head of Group Investor Relations and in 2013 was named Head of Group Planning, Strategy and Capital Management.
 
In 2017, he took on the position of Head of Strategy and M&A, which he held until 2021, when he was appointed Head of Group Capital, Performance and Shareholding Management.

He has been the Chief Financial Officer of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. since 15 June 2022.

He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of AXA MPS Assicurazioni Vita S.p.A. and AXA MPS Assicurazioni Danni S.p.A. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund and a member of the Management Board of the Interbank Deposit Protection Fund Voluntary Scheme.
