Banca Mps approves adoption of new Corporate Governance Code for listed companies and appoints Director in charge of internal controls and risk management

The Board of Directors of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has today approved the adoption of the new Corporate Governance code for listed companies issued in December 2011.

During their meeting, the Board of Directors noted that Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena’s corporate governance model is already largely in line with the principles of the Code and appointed CEO, Fabrizio Viola, as Director in charge of the internal controls & risk management system.

The new Corporate Governance Code, which updates the one approved in 2006 (amended in 2010 with exclusive reference to Article 7 regarding remuneration), will be published on the Company website under the section "Corporate Governance" and will set out the solutions adopted by the bank and the reasons for adopting them.

The Corporate Governance Report, which will be published in 2013, will provide detailed information regarding application of the new Code.
