Press news about Biverbanca denied

With regard to today’s press news about a potential disposal of the Bank’s 59% shareholding in Biverbanca, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena denies having ever made any considerations to this effect.

On the contrary, the Montepaschi Group is continuing to invest in the Piedmont-based bank, as testified by the recent transfer of 13 former Antonveneta branches to Biverbanca – thereby strengthening its local footprint – and the completion of initiatives aimed at aligning IT platforms and operational processes.

As a result of this transfer, Biverbanca’s network now comprises 122 branches and has a total headcount of 775 employees, EUR 3.1 bln worth of direct funds and EUR 2.3 bln worth of lending.
