Roberto Rao

Roberto Rao has been an independent director of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. since May 2020, where he is also Chairman of the Related-Party Transactions Committee and a member of the Appointments Committee.
He has a Law degree from "La Sapienza" University of Rome and has been a member of the Order of Journalists since 1991.
He has gained experience in the field of institutional and corporate communications and relations and from May 2014 to May 2020 he was a member of the Board of Directors of Poste Italiane S.p.A., where he was also Chairman of the "Nominations and Corporate Governance Committee", a member of the "Control and Risk Committee" and of the "Related Parties and Connected Persons Committee".
He has held positions as Head of Communications of a number of entities and institutions, including the Presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, and was a Member of Parliament from 2008 to 2013.
From June 2013 to 2017, he held the position of Advisor to the Minister of Justice and from January 2017 to June 2018 he was Advisor to the Ministry of the Environment and Land and Sea Protection.
From 2017 to 2020 he was advisor to CONI Servizi S.p.A. for political-institutional relations and later to “Sport e Salute S.p.a.” for strategies, legislative affairs and stakeholder relations.
He has been Head of Communications for Lazio Sports Club since January 2021.
